Adjusting to life with your new family member can be chaotic and stressful. But you still want to capture this special time and these sweet moments. There are many different options for newborn photos and you will have to see what fits most for your family. What I offer are lifestyle newborn photo session. And here is what you can expect.
Location
My sessions take place in your home. You don’t have to go anywhere. I come to you. That means that you don’t have to stress about what to pack, where to feed or do diaper changes. And don’t worry. I won’t expect a perfectly styled home. I know what it means to have a baby. When I come to your home, I will look around for the best light and then we will de-clutter that room real quick. Your home doesn’t have to be huge and it doesn’t have to look like an interior designer decorated it. All I need to capture your little family is one nice window and a bed or a couch. And usually all homes have that.

Timing
The best time for your session is about 2-8 weeks after baby is born. I don’t want you to stress to get this done within the first 2 weeks. Let’s take your pictures when you feel ready any time within those first 8 weeks. The session will be about 60-90 minutes. Depending on how many feedings or diaper changes there will be. And we don’t have to wait until your baby falls asleep. Awake newborns are just as beautiful as sleeping ones.
Props or blankets
Some photographers use props in their sessions, but I won’t bring any of those to my sessions. I just come with my camera to capture your family connection. I want to capture your new family just the way it is. Without any props. If you’d like to use a swaddling blanket it would be much more meaningful if it is your own. Maybe even one that was gifted to you or that somebody made for your little one.
Editing
You might be wondering what kind of editing and retouching I will do on your baby. That really is up to you. But I embrace the newborn ‘flaws’. They are part of your baby. Part of this early stage of their life. But I do edit baby acne a bit. You can tell me the degree on how much you’d like that to be done. Depending on how severe it is, I usually just lessen it a bit.
People
So who should be in the session? Definitely the parents and any siblings. But you can even have the grandparents join. It is totally up to you. Having the help of your mom around is usually the best thing when having a newborn. So why not include them in the session as well. But it is absolutely your decision.
Older siblings
It is tough for older siblings to adjust to a new family addition. So you might worry how they might behave. Just know that this is normal. But having the session in your home makes this so much easier. It means that they will be in the comfort of their home. And if they need their favorite snack or they want to retreat into their safe area they can do just that.
